He also gave ideas to serve fresh brewed coffee, espresso and cappuccino from Starbucks beans in their stores. In 1985, he left Starbucks and started a new company II Giornale and in 1987 the company acquired Starbucks. By 1990, Starbucks gained profits. In 2000, Howard became Starbucks chief global strategist. When Schultz regained his job as CEO in early 2008, Starbucks' profits and revenues were going down due to the economic crisis.
