Fulham v Aston Villa

Craven Cottage

Kick-off: 15.00 BST

Last season: Aston Villa 2 Fulham 2, Fulham 1 Aston Villa 1.

Without Ashley Young and Stewart Downing sending an unceasing stream of crosses into opposition penalty areas Darren Bent, and by extension Aston Villa, could have a rough ride this season.

New manager Alex McLeish has been rewarded for relegating Birmingham with a controversial switch across town and he faces a battle to win over disgruntled Villa fans before the season even starts.

Shay Given and Charles N'Zogbia are both good signings but the club remain reliant on Bent's goals and it's difficult to see anything other than a mid-table finish this season.

Fulham's new manager Martin Jol will hope to continue in much the same vein as his predecessor, Mark Hughes.

The Dutch manager has added ex-Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise and Czech midfielder Marcel Gecov and, perhaps most importantly, the club still look threatening up front.
