Galaxy A5 (2015) getting Android Marshmallow update Samsung

Android Marshmallow update with version 6.0.1 is seeding for the 2015 model of Galaxy A5, after it was rolled out to the 2016 variant more than a month ago. The first generation A5 was originally shipped with KitKat flavour and updated to Lollipop firmware later.

The Marshmallow software with build version XXU1CPG2 is now hitting the A5 phone bearing model number A500FU in various markets such as Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, Italy, Croatia and the Czech Republic. If you belong to any of the above regions, the update notification should be hitting your device any time now.

To fetch the update manually head over to Settings>> About device>> Software update>> Update now. Alternatively, use the firmware download link available on Sammobile to perform a manual update using Odin flashing tool.

Upon the update, you should be able to take advantage of all Marshmallow goodies on your A5 including Google Now on Tap, Doze mode for battery life management and permission for apps. In addition to that, the update brings the latest Android security patches.

As all Android devices are eligible to receive major updates for two years since their launch, the Galaxy A5 will not get Android 7.0 Nougat, which is expected to be released this month, with 5 August security patch.
