Android 4.1.2 XXDLL4 Jelly Bean firmware is released for Galaxy Note 2 LTE Samsung

Samsung has followed the release of Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) firmware XXDLL1 with the XXDLL4 file for the Galaxy Note 2 (N7105; LTE version). This firmware is compatible with a number of European markets, including the UK, and is available both as a Samsung Kies download and an Over the Air (OTA) transfer.

Galaxy Note 2 LTE users who wish to update manually may follow this tutorial. IBTimes UK reminds its readers it will not be held responsible for any damage to the device during installation. This guide works only with the Galaxy Note 2 (N7105; LTE version).

Pre-Requisites

  • Ensure appropriate USB drivers have been installed on computer and enable USB debugging mdoe
  • Ensure device is factory unlocked
  • Ensure battery has at least 80 percent charge
  • Ensure all data is backed-up

To Install Android 4.1.2 XXDLL4 (Jelly Bean) on Galaxy Note 2 LTE

  • Download Android 4.1.2 XXDLL4 to computer and extract contents
  • Download Odin v3.07 and extract contents
  • Switch device off and boot into Download mode (to do so, press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power till a warning message appears and then press Volume Up)
  • Start Odin and connect device to computer with USB cable (a successful connection is indicated by a message - Added - and a COM port number against a yellow background)
  • In Odin, select these files (from the XXDLL4 firmware folder) in the order mentioned
  • Click PDA and select .tar file Code
  • Click Phone and select file Modem
  • Click CSC and select file CSC
  • Click PIT and select .pit
  • Note: Ignore last three if such files are not found
  • In Odin, ensure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected
  • Click Start to begin installation process
  • After installation is complete, device will reboot automatically (a successful installation is incidated by a message from Odin - Pass - against a green background)
  • Note: If device freezes at re-booting animation in final step, enter Recovery mode, perform a Wipe Data/Factory Reset task and then select Reboot System Now
  • Unplug device from computer

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE (N7105) has now been updated to Android 4.1.2 XXDLL4 (Jelly Bean); browse to Settings > About Phone to verify software on device.

To Root Galaxy Note 2 LTE on Android 4.1.2 XXDLL4 (Jelly Bean)

  • Download CF-Auto-Root file and extract contents (a .tar.md5 file should be visible)
  • Switch device off and boot into Download mode (to do so, press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power till a warning message appears and then press Volume Up)
  • Start Odin and connect device to computer with USB cable
  • In Odin, click PDA and select CF-Auto-Root-tolte-gtn7105.tar.md5
  • In Odin, ensure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected
  • Click Start to begin installation process
  • After installation is completed, device will reboot automatically (a successful installation is incidated by a message from Odin - Pass - against a green background)
  • Unplug device from computer

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE (N7105) running Android 4.1.2 XXDLL4 (Jelly Bean) has now been rooted. To ensure root is properly installed, verify with Root Checker app available on the Google Play Store.
