Android 4.1.2 XXDLL5 Jelly Bean firmware released for Galaxy Note 2. Samsung

Samsung released an Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update recently, for the Galaxy Note 2. And that has now been followed by another update - XXDLL5 - for the international version N7100. The firmware was rolled out for users in Turkey but is compatible with a number of European countries, including the UK.

The firmware can be installed either through Samsung Kies or an automatic software update on the device. However, users looking to do a manual update may follow this tutorial. Pre-Requisites

  • Ensure appropriate USB drivers are downloaded and installed on the computer and USB debugging is enabled
  • Ensure back-up of data
  • Ensure device is factory unlocked
  • Ensure battery has at least 80 percent charge

To Install Android 4.1.2 XXDLL5 (Jelly Bean) on Samsung Galaxy Note 2

  • Download Android 4.1.2 XXDLL5 to computer and extract firmware
  • Download Odin v3.07 and extract contents
  • Switch device off and re-start in Download mode (to do so, press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power till a warning message appears and then press Volume Up)
  • Run Odin and connect device with USB cable (a successful connection is indicated by a message from the programme - Added - and a COM port number in yellow)
  • In Odin, select these files (from XXDLL5 firmware folder) in the order mentioned
  • Click PDA and select .tar file named Code
  • Click Phone and select file named Modem
  • Click CSC and select file named CSC
  • Click PIT and select .pit file
  • Note: Ignore final three if such files are not found
  • Click Start in Odin to begin installation
  • After installation the device will restart (a successful installation is indicated by a message from Odin - Pass - against a green background)
  • Unplug device from computer

The Android 4.1.2 XXDLL5 (Jelly Bean) official firmware has now been installed on the Galaxy Note 2 (N71000). Navigate to Settings > About Phone to verify firmware on device.

  • Download Odin v3.07

  • In Odin, click PDA and select CF-Auto-Root file and also ensure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Times checkboxes are selected
