Galaxy S3 I9300 users receive yet another Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update with the release of AOKP Milestone 1 ROM, thanks to the industrious Android developers. Although Android 4.2 is around the corner, there is still no word from Samsung regarding the official release of Android 4.1.2 software update for Galaxy S3.

S3 users are still constrained to the older Android 4.1.1 firmware on the stock build official ROM from Samsung. Nevertheless, it's likely that the latest Android version - Android 4.2 - will hit the AOKP custom ROM first before being released through the official channels.

How to Install AOKP Milestone 1 Based Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update on Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300

Step 1 - Download AOKP Milestone 1 Based Jelly Bean ROM and Google Apps for Galaxy S3 on your computer.

Step 2 - Connect and mount your Galaxy S3 USB mass storage on your computer with an USB cable.

Step 3 - Now, copy the downloaded Android 4.1.2 ROM and Google Apps zip files to the root folder on your phone's SD card.

Step 4 - Power off your phone and unplug the USB cable to disconnect the phone from the computer.

Step 5 - Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together, until the device boots into CWM Recovery Mode.

Step 6 - In CWM recovery, do a full data wipe first. Then browse and select "flash zip from SD card" option and tap the Power button to select it.

Step 7 - Tap the Power button again and click choose zip from sdcard.

Step 8 - Now, use your volume keys to navigate to the Android 4.1.2 ROM zip file that you copied to your phone in step 3 and select it using the Power button. Confirm the ROM installation on the next screen and the installation procedure should begin.

NOTE: Repeat this step for installing Google Apps.

Step 9 - Once the ROM is installed, hit Go Back and reboot the phone by tapping Reboot System now from the recovery menu. The phone will reboot and the first boot may take about 5 minutes to complete. So, leave it alone.

AOKP Milestone 1 ROM based Jelly Bean update is now successfully installed on your Galaxy S3 I9300. Go to Settings > About Phone to verify the firmware version installed.
