How to Update Galaxy S3 I9300 to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean via SlimBean Build 3 ROM

  • Connect phone to computer with USB cable
  • Without extracting, copy downloaded ROM and Google Apps zip files to root folder on phone's SD card
  • Disconnect device from computer and turn off phone
  • Boot phone into ClockworkMod Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up, Power and Home buttons until Samsung logo appears. Then release all three buttons and press again. The device will now enter CWM Recovery. Use Volume keys to navigate between option and Power to select an option in Recovery
  • Take a Nandroid backup of the existing ROM so it can be restored later if the new ROM fails to work or you want to return to the original ROM. To backup, choose Backup and Restore and then tap Backup on next screen. Return to main Recovery menu once task is complete
  • Perform a full data wipe task. To do so, click Wipe Data/Factory Reset > Yes. Wait until process completes and return to CWM Recovery main menu and select Wipe Cache Partition. Once wipe process is done, click Wipe Dalvik Cache under advance options
  • Choose Install Zip from SD card and then Choose Zip from SD card. Now, locate SlimBean Build 3 ROM zip file copied to phone in and select by tapping Power. Confirm ROM installation by choosing Yes on next screen and installation process will begin
  • After ROM installation process completes, repeat above step with SlimBean GApps zip file
  • Once Google Apps is installed, return to Main Recovery Menu and click Reboot System Now to reboot the phone into newly installed SlimBean Build 3 custom ROM. Be aware first boot may be time-consuming
  • Restoring Previous ROM: To return to previous ROM, boot into Recovery, choose Backup and Restore and then restore original ROM by choosing it from the list

The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean-based SlimBean Build 3 ROM is now installed and running on the Galaxy S3 I9300.
