Game of Thrones Season 4 is one of the most eagerly awaited television events of 2014. A fan has posted a 6-second clip, on Tumblr, of scenes from the upcoming season. This is cut from a longer 2013 year-end promo that began airing on HBO this weekend:

Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is in shackles. Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) seems to be in a foul mood. Sansa (Sophie Turner) is most probably awaiting her knight in shining armour. And Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) appears presentable and is quite possibly sporting a replacement hand as his right one was chopped off in Season 3, reports Celebuzz.

The beginning part seems to be the most menacing of them all. Being a desert scene, one would assume it is a glimpse into Daenerys' (Emilia Clarke) storyline. She may have set all the slaves free last season, but it appears there is still resistance and fighting in store.

Game of Thrones Season 4 is all set to premiere on 31 March, 2014. Fans of the show are sure to rejoice knowing that soon the popular drama will be back with new twists and more jaw-dropping moments.

Speaking of which, the Purple Wedding episode (part of season 4) has generated enough curiosity among fans after revelations by the makers that it is going to be "spectacular". HBO's Making of the Game of Thrones website has a blog post outlining details about the forthcoming Purple Wedding. Writer Cat Taylor says that the Purple Wedding is one of the biggest scenes they have filmed since the premiere season.

Fans of the books will know that the Purple Wedding (a major part of Season 4 of the series) sees King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) tie the knot. But the couple's happiness is short-lived as Joffrey is poisoned soon after.

In the books, Cersei (Lena Headey) tries to convince Jaime to kill Tyrion because she thinks Tyrion killed Joffrey, but Jaime wants to learn more about the situation.
