The trailer for the much anticipated Godzilla film, which is slated for release next year, is out.

The film, which will release by May 2014, is directed by Gareth Edwards of Monsters fame and it stars Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn and Sally Hawkins.

The first shot follows Johnson, playing a military man, through a HALO jump straight into hell. It shows a city completely devastated by the radioactive monster. The rest focuses on the human element of the story, while teasing images of Godzilla, which appears to be the biggest as yet.

Earlier this month, an atmospheric teaser was leaked online, which was promptly removed by Warner Brothers. It showed large-scale shots of urban destruction complete with an image of the beast roaring into the distance. The narration was by the creator of the Atom Bomb, Robert Oppenheimer: "We knew the world would not be the same. Few people laughed, few people cried, most people were silent."

"I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture ... Vishnu takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another."

Meanwhile, Olsen opened up about her role in the movie, comparing it with Avengers where she and Taylor-Johnson played twin brother and sister.

"We get to play husband and wife, and we get to play twin brother and sister. It's also fun because even though in 'Godzilla' we play husband and wife, we don't have a lot of scenes together. I just love him. I love his family. I love his kids. I'm so excited... to actually work with each other. I think it's going to be fun," Olsen said.
