One billion programmes and films watched through On-Demand service Virgin Media

Virgin Media has released its own-brand TiVo app for Android, allowing its customers to remotely record their favourite shows on the go.

Imaginatively named Virgin Media TV Guide, the app is available as a free download to Virgin Media customers via the Android Marketplace.

As well as the ability to control which shows the user's home system records, the app also reportedly houses seven-days of scheduled programme information -- meaning that user's will be able to plan up to a weeks worth of viewing via their smartphone.

The app will also reportedly allow the user to create lists of their favourite channels.

Speaking to GadgetHelpline executive director of commercial TV & online at Virgin Media, Alex Green commented on the new app:

"We think Virgin Media's TiVo Service is the best way to watch TV and our new mobile app enhances that experience by ensuring you'll never miss recording a programme whilst out and about.

"Our TiVo service already offers the most flexible and comprehensive recording options and features, which this new service complements."

There are already rumours that Virgin is currently developing an equivalent app for Apple's iOS.
