American technology company GoPro is recalling about 2,500 Karma drones purchased by customers since 23 October. The recall was announced after the company discovered that the some drones lost power during operation.

The company said a "very small number of cases" of power failure, without revealing details about them. However, there are no reports of injuries or property damage so far.

"A very small number of Karma owners have reported incidents of power failure during operation. We have moved quickly to recall all units of Karma and provide a full refund while we investigate the issue," said GoPro founder and chief executive Nicholas Woodman.

"We are working in close coordination with both the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Federal Aviation Administration. We are very sorry to have inconvenienced our customers and we are taking every step to make the return and refund process as easy as possible," said Woodman.

The company advised the customers to return the units to GoPro, or wherever they have purchased it from and claim a full refund. The company is not issuing replacement units in return and promises to resume shipment once it resolves the performance issue related to power failure.
