Gotham season 3 has released a new promo, which shows Bruce Wayne beginning his training to become the protector of Gotham City aka Batman. The show is currently on a hiatus and returns with an all-new episode on 24 April at 8pm EST on Fox Network.

The promo titled The Transformation Begins, opens with Raymond J Barry's temple shaman character telling Bruce, "I've been waiting a long time for you to begin your journey." Barry's character is wearing a robe and sitting on the floor and Bruce, who has donned a similar white robe, is sitting beside him, listening intently.

The shaman tells young Wayne, "People are afraid. And fear breeds hopelessness. Gotham needs something that you can provide."

An astonished Bruce asks, "What?" "A protector, Bruce," the shaman replies.

The video features images of Bruce's training and ends with him fighting some street goons, clearly hinting that his eventual transformation into the Dark Knight has begun.

Previously, a Deadline report provided more details into Barry's role in Gotham and teased that his suspicious shaman character will have a heavy influence on young Bruce Wayne.

"Barry will play the temple Shaman, a mysterious figure who enters Bruce's (Mazouz) life with the stated intention of unlocking the potential of his own mind. While the Shaman says the fate of Gotham depends upon Bruce becoming the man the city needs him to become, the truth behind his intentions proves to be far more sinister," the report says.

Meanwhile, The network has released the official synopsis for season 3's spring premiere episode, titled, Heroes Rise: How the Riddler Got His Name. Here is the official description of episode 15:

Nygma convinces himself that he doesn't need Penguin to succeed and begins to introduce himself to Gotham as "The Riddler." Bullock and Lucius Fox get caught up in Nygma's mind games, while Gordon learns troubling news about his father's death. Meanwhile, the Court of the Owls reveals its next move.
