Grey's Anatomy season 11 returns post its midseason break with episode 9 airing tonight (Thursday, 29 January). What can fans expect from the new episode titled Where Do We Go From Here?' that features Derek leaving for Washington?
The synopsis of the episode reveals that Meredith will try to keep busy at the hospital as Derek prepares to leave for his new job. Meanwhile, Arizona and Amelia will try to decide how to best handle the news of Dr. Herman's improved prognosis. And Jackson and April will deal with "difficult news," presumably involving the health of their unborn baby. (via Hollywood Take)
The last 2014 episode of Grey's saw Meredith tell Derek to leave for Washington DC and according to the show's writer Shonda Rhimes, fans might not get to see Derek "for a while".
"The show is not taking place in two different locations," Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly. "It's highly possible that you might not see Derek for a while.
"There will be a time when you see him again, yes, but it's probable that you will not see Derek for a while," she said.
With no Cristina and no Derek, Meredith will be left alone over the upcoming episodes and her relationship with Maggie could deepen.
"They're still trying to figure out what they are to one another," Rhimes explained. "Are they just going to be friends? Are they going to be sisters? How are they going to be with one another?
