Gujarat Lions host their first game on home soil when they take on Rising Pune Supergiants in the sixth match of the Indian Premier League 2016 on 14 April in Rajkot. Gujarat and Pune are the two new franchises who are taking part for the first time in the IPL.

The Gujarat Lions are probably the most balanced squad in the league and in captain Suresh Raina, Brendon McCullum, Aaron Finch, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja and James Faulkner, they have players who can single-handedly win a match on their day.

The bowling attack might look weak on paper, but Dwayne Bravo and company proved their worth in their first game against Kings XI Punjab. Although, they have a variety of bowlers, it is their batting front that will win them games.

The Rising Pune Supergiants too are participating in the Indian Premier League for the first time, but in MS Dhoni they arguably have the most experienced captain and performer in the league. The Supergiants too got off to a winning start beating defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening game of the IPL.

Similar to the Lions, Pune's batting also looks great with players like Ajinkya Rahane, Faf du Plessis, Kevin Pietersen, Steve Smith, Mitchell Marsh and the skipper himself present in the line-up. Their bowlers did the job against Mumbai in the opening game, but on placid surfaces they might struggle due to lack of variety.
