The Indian Premier League bandwagon continues to roll with the final two matches of this season taking place on Friday and Sunday. The second qualifier will see two teams with differing strengths face off.
Gujarat Lions have been the team to beat. They did stutter but came back strongly to top the league table. Their last game against RCB in the first qualifier perhaps showed their limitations, as their batsmen don't fire when in trouble.
Their foreign players, barring Dwayne Smith, have not performed of late, something which will be of concern to skipper Suresh Raina. They need Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch to come good, because even if one of them gets going then it would be very difficult for the opposition to stop them.
Their bowlers, especially Dwayne Bravo, have tailed off, but Dhawal Kulkarni has picked up where he had left; his four-wicket spell against Bangalore was brilliant. The Lions will be expected to play the same XI that took the field in qualifier one.
No one at the start of the competition expected Sunrisers Hyderabad to be challenging for the title, but David Warner and co have shown that you don't necessarily need big names in your team.
Warner has led from the front with the bat, while Shikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques have chipped in with crucial knocks. They have the best bowling attack in the competition. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has stood out, picking up 21 wickets to take the purple cap, while Mustafizur Rahman is just thrilling to watch.
The batsmen know that if they put up a decent score, the bowlers will be able to defend it.
