Overview

The league leaders at the halfway point of the tournament with eight points from five games, Guyana Amazon Warriors come into this clash on the back of their first defeat, losing to Trinbago Knight Riders by seven runs on 10 July.

Set to chase 152, the Warriors fell seven runs short of their target finally mustering only 144 runs off their 20 overs. Skipper Martin Guptill played the lone hand, scoring 50 off 40 balls, his first fifty plus score of the tournament but it was of no consequence in the end.

Despite this loss Guyana are the favourites to win this tie with both their batting and bowling firing simultaneously. Dwayne Smith started brightly but has slackened pace while Martin Guptill and Jason Mohammad have taken up the responsibility and helped their team post challenging totals.

Their bowlers especially Adam Zampa and Sohail Tanvir have been impressive; in fact the duo are leading the wicket-takers charts with 10 and nine wickets respectively. With no injury worries at present, they are likely to field the same eleven who played on Sunday.

Currently placed bottom of the table with two points from two games, the St Lucia Zouks outfit have still not had a consecutive run of games to hit their stride. Surprisingly, they last played on 3 July, meaning they have had nine rest days to recover from their loss to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their last game.

Despite their position on the league table, the Zouks are not to be taken lightly, having a number of match-winners in their squad. In Mike Hussey, David Miller, Shane Watson, Darren Sammy and Morne Morkel they have players who are capable of taking the game away from the opposition in a couple of overs.

Once they get a run of games under their belt and get used to the conditions they will be a tough team to beat looking at the talent they have in their squad.
