One of the Internet's more popular adult video Web sites - YouPorn - has confirmed that personal data for millions of its registered users has been compromised. It is believed the data was on a public server and was leaked due to the negligence of its parent company, the Luxembourg-based Manwin Holding SARL, after careless programmers abandoned unencrypted login information on a public-accessible web server.

The latter confirmed the attack and said they had identified the hacker as a 17 year-old Moroccan boy. According to Manwin, the hacker could have breached their servers through an under-construction Web site JuggNetwork.com.

Reports concerning the breach of personal user data became public earlier this week, courtesy Flashback.org. Thereafter, the affected Web site - chat.youporn.com - was shutdown on Tuesday, February 21. However, affiliate partner programs were initiated to provide a new chat service called "YP Chat" as recourse.

"Affected members are being alerted of the security breach and assured that their billing and credit card information remains protected," Manwin told Xbiz. The company also provided its customers the option to cancel their accounts and claim a new one, besides receiving other offers and discounts.

Finally, the company also emphasised there were no signs of credit card information theft. Furthermore, the hacker has apparently openly confessed to the attack and said it was not made for financial gain but to simply expose vulnerabilities, according to Tom's Guide.
