When in crowded places we are regularly warned to watch our wallets. But increasingly, the real threat to our money is not from pickpockets but from cyber criminals.

In this week's Tech Talk, IBTimes UK technology editor David Gilbert speaks to James Lyne from security company Sophos, who explains just how easy it is for cyber-criminals to clone our credit cards, steal our money online and even empty our bitcoin wallets.

"A lot of people would think with a modern credit card like this with chip and pin and the latest security features, it would be very difficult," says Lyne.

"But unfortunately, retailers are the weakest link and a lot of countries where we do transactions don't support these more modern technologies".

"Online transactions in fact represent a bigger opportunity for the cyber criminals, because they can achieve scale. There's actually some terribly bad user habits that have been drilled into them that can get them into a lot of trouble," he adds.
