Scotland Yard is investigating a double stabbing in Haringey after a couple who were sat on a bench were attacked by two men. A 24-year-old man was sitting on a bench with his 21-year-old girlfriend at Downhills Park Road, north London at 6pm on Wednesday (28 October) when they were approached by two men, one of whom demanded the man's phone.

The couple tried to move away but both suspects brandished weapons before the male victim was stabbed repeatedly in the back. He was treated by London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. His girlfriend suffered a cut to her hand in the attack and was also treated in hospital − her injuries are not serious. Both suspects fled the scene.

There have been no arrests at this time and a crime scene is in place. The suspects are described as black, aged about 20 and both were wearing scarves across their faces.
