It's all wizards, muggles and quidditch in IBTimes HQ, as we take a quick look at the Harry Potter franchise which put a spell on audiences around the world.

Marking the fifteenth year of publication, the seven strong set of books has transformed into a near 25 billion dollar industry.

What started off as a set of children's books written by JK Rowling in an Edinburgh café, the books alone have grossed nearly over 7 billion dollars worldwide while the movies, filmed by Warner Brothers have racked up nearly 8 billion dollars.

But it doesn't stop there.

According to industry data, Harry Potter and his magical chums have earned the franchise over 7 billion dollars in toy sales, while Electronic Arts earned 1 billion dollars in computer game sales.

JK Rowling may have closed the chapter on writing for the children's fantasy genre BUT with more computer games, theme parks and memorabilia in the works, it looks like Harry Potter will be conjuring up big bucks for many years to come.
