Henrikh Mkhitaryan is reportedly on the cusp of completing his move to Manchester United. The 27-year-old midfielder is close of joining the Old Trafford club after they virtually agreed all aspects of his long-awaited move from Borussia Dortmund for a fee in the region of £26m ($34.4m).

Mkhitaryan boarded a private jet to Manchester earlier on Friday afternoon (1 July), as he arrives for his medical examination and to tie up the remaining details of his move to United, according to the Daily Mail. The Armenian international could become the third signing of the Jose Mourinho era, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic's long-awaited move to United expected to be completed beforehand.

Mkhitaryan has a year left on his contract with Dortmund and the Bundesliga club appear set to sell him to United rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in 12 months' time. The midfielder enjoyed his best-ever season in 2015/16 and his eye-catching performances have clearly attracted the interest of United's new boss.

The Premier League-winning manager has already sealed the £30m ($39.8m) capture of Eric Bailly from Villarreal, while Ibrahimovic is also on the cusp of joining United. The record-breaking Swede announced his intention to join United in an Instagram post on Thursday (30 June).

Ibrahimovic – whose contract with Paris Saint-Germain has now officially ended – posted an image of the club's crest and captioned it: "Time to let the world know. My next destination is Manchester United."
