A landlord in the US has pleaded guilty to trespassing charges after being caught having sex in his tenant's bedroom by a Nest smart security camera. The married couple occupying the Colorado Springs apartment discovered the alarming footage after receiving a smartphone notification alerting them to a noise from within the property while away from the premises.

Carlos Quijada-Lara, 39, admitted the charge as part of a plea deal, reports The Smoking Gun, with the six-minute-long video allegedly containing footage of oral and anal sex acts acting as a crucial piece of evidence in the sentencing.

The two tenants, named as Logan Pierce and Mikaela DiGiulio, have since left the property having discovered that their landlord was using their home as a love nest while the couple were at work.

The Nest camera captured Quijada-Lara sneaking into the $1,100 a month property with another man back in November, 2016. After receiving the smartphone alert, the tenants, who had installed the smart home security camera, watched as the intruding pair undressed each other inside their bedroom.

In addition to the clandestine sex captured, the video also reportedly showed Quijada-Lara's lover wiping his genitalia on a dress owned by DiGiullio which she had previously worn when marrying Pierce just month prior. A second item of clothing was then used to clean a lubricant trail left on the sheets.

Quijada-Lara was arrested after the tenants handed over a copy of the horrifying evidence to the Colorado Springs Police Department. According to the court documents, Quijada-Lara faces sentencing on 22 September.
