The Indian reply was led by opener Gautam Gambhir, who scored a quick and steady 91 from a 106 balls before being run out by Nuwan Kulasekara. Meanwhile, as with the Sri Lankan innings, the Indian captain, M.S. Dhoni stepped to the plate, finishing the match unbeaten on 58 off 69 balls; in fact, it was Dhoni who secured the tie for his team.
