The One Day International between Sri Lanka and India, in the ongoing tri-series also involving Australia, ended in a tie.

The Sri Lankans, who won the toss and decided to bat, managed a competitive total of 236/9. The principal run-getter was Dinesh Chandimal, who blasted 81 off just 91 balls. The Sri Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene, chipped in with a solid 43 from 49 deliveries. Paceman Vinay Kumar and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin were the pick of the bowlers, scalping 3/46 and 2/30, respectively, off their 10 overs.

The Indian reply was led by opener Gautam Gambhir, who scored a quick and steady 91 from a 106 balls before being run out by Nuwan Kulasekara. Meanwhile, as with the Sri Lankan innings, the Indian captain, M.S. Dhoni stepped to the plate, finishing the match unbeaten on 58 off 69 balls; in fact, it was Dhoni who secured the tie for his team. Among the Sri Lankan bowlers, Lasith Malinga and Thisara Perera led the way, picking up two wickets off their 10 overs and conceding 53 and 45 runs respectively.

The Lankans will play hosts Australia next... on Feb. 17, with the Indians taking their turn two days later.
