Indian actor Dhanush will star with Kill Bill actress Uma Thurman in a Hollywood adaptation of the French bestseller, The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir Who Got Trapped In An Ikea Wardrobe. The book is written by Romain Puértolas.

Marjane Satrapi, the Iranian-origin graphic novelist well-known for her works such as Persepolis and The Voices will direct the film. Also starring in it is Alexandra Daddario of True Detective (season 1) and San Andrea (2015) fame.

On casting the Indian actor for the lead role, Satrapi told The Times of India, "As I was watching various Indian movies, Dhanush became the most obvious choice – his intelligence, his killer smile, his ability to enter fully into the skin of any character he played (and I can go on and on forever) made me confident that he was the one."

After Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, Dhanush is the second actor set for a debut in Hollywood this year. Prior to them, Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan have already made their mark in the West.

The film will be shot in India, France, Italy and Morocco in mid-2016. Dhanush has bagged the National Award for best actor for his work in the film 'Aadukalam' and 'Kaakka Muttai'. He garnered international attention with his popular song Why This Kolaveri Di, which became the first Indian video to cross 100 million views on YouTube.

The actor was last seen with Amitabh Bachchan in Shamitabh and he is awaiting the release of three Tamil language films: Kodi, Rail and Vada Chennai.
