The Chronic Dev Team brings more good news to jailbreak users with the release of a new update - Absinthe 2.0.2. The latest jailbreak update brings support for iPhone 4 (GSM only) firmware for iOS 5.1.1 that Apple released very recently. Absinthe 2.0.2 is compatible with almost all Apple devices running iOS 5.1.1, except for the third-generation Apple TV.
Meanwhile, renowned iPhone hacker - iH8sn0w - posted a note on his Twitter account, pointing at the new software update from Apple for the iPhone 4 (GSM only) and elaborating that the new update had everything in common with previous software releases except for making the earlier untethered payload for the iPhone 4 incompatible.
The new Absinthe 2.0.2 update, therefore, answers this particular issue of incompatibility.
"Apple appears to have (surprisingly) released 5.1.1/9B208 for the iPhone 4 (GSM) exclusively. Although there isn't much of a difference it was enough to make the 9B206 untether payload for the iPhone 4 (GSM) invalidate on 9B208. Until pod2g/planetbeing build an untether payload for this build, 9B208 support is not included. A small update will be pushed whenever this occurs. This doesn't mean the untether was patched though," tweeted iH8sn0w.
According to Jailbreak Untethered, iH8sn0w's Twitter message also hints at another small update - Sn0wbreeze 2.9.4 - for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak being released. The Absinthe 2.0.2 jailbreak tool brings out the same simplicity and flexibility that is the hallmark of GreenPois0n's jailbreak releases till date.
The complete list of supported devices with the new Absinthe 2.0.2 update for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak is as follows:
- iPhone 3G
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 4S
- iPad 2
- New iPad / iPad 3
