iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Status: Evasi0n Achieves 68% Progress, Sunday Release Likely

Over the last few days, the jailbreak community has been kept busy with a spate of progress updates swarming the internet. Now, there is more good news, as the new Dream Team of hackers named 'evad3rs' has come close to achieving a seemingly improbable feat until now.

As iDownloadBlog notes, the latest update on the progress of highly-anticipated jailbreak - evasi0n - comes as the second tweet from the evad3rs Twitter account.

The evad3rs dev team in their latest Twitter update had this to say:

"68%: Applications for Windows and OS X are finished. Remains linux and some testing. Come back soon!"

The tweet signals the completion of yet another major step involving the tool's Graphical User Interface (GUI) for both Windows and Mac OS X. With the evasi0n jailbreak progress having attained 68 percent completion, only the Linux GUI needs to be worked on along with some private beta testing for apps across all the three platforms. The final step presumably involves fixing all the bugs found during beta testing.

Earlier, the Dream Team announced that the forthcoming jailbreak tool - evasi0n - would support all iOS 6 compatible devices (namely iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2 and iOS 6.1). The newly launched evasi0n website also hinted that the upcoming jailbreak might be released on Sunday, 3 February, which adds weight to MuscleNerd's earlier clue to watch out for the Super Bowl day.

With such rapid progress attained by the jailbreak Dream Team in a short span of time, it seems like something big is definitely brewing over the weekend and Sunday could indeed be a fun-day.
