iPhone 7 specs Apple rumours
Smartphone tipster OnLeaks has published what he claims are blueprints of the new iPhone Reuters

Alleged blueprints of the iPhone 7 have been leaked online which appear to back up previous rumours surrounding Apple's next flagship phone. Posted on Twitter by Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowhereelse.fr, the images purportedly depict factory CAD drawings of the iPhone 7 and the larger iPhone 7 Plus.

Hemmerstoffer, otherwise known as @OnLeaks sourced the drawings for uSwitch and posted them on Twitter on 11 May, after teasing an iPhone-related announcement.

The images appear to reinforce earlier reports that the iPhone 7 will drop the traditional headphone jack in favour of Lightning-connected earpieces. They also suggest that the iPhone 7 Plus will feature a dual-camera setup on the rear of the device, similar to the Huawei P9. This lends credence to claims that Apple may put to use the 3D mapping technology it acquired through its purchase of LinX in early 2015.

The larger iPhone 7 model depicted in the leak suggests it will borrow the Smart Connector found on the iPad Pro. The Smart Connector allows keyboards and other compatible peripherals to wirelessly connect to the iPad Pro, and can also be used to transfer power and data to connected accessories.

Such connectivity would open up the possibility of new dedicated accessories for the iPhone 7, the most obvious being smart cases and keyboards. That said, Apple may be working on something even more exciting that it's keeping quiet about for the time being.

From the blueprints, it appears as though the standard iPhone 7 will only come with the one camera lens and no Smart Connector support. Both devices are pegged for a September 2016 release, so we'll have to wait until then to see if Hemmerstoffer's claims hold water. In the meantime, here are seven features we think the iPhone 7 will need to beat the Samsung Galaxy S7.
