Overview

The defending champions have not had a good run in IPL 2013. They come into this game after a seven wicket defeat to Delhi Daredevils in their last game. Gautam Gambhir's side are seventh in the table with only three wins in 10 games.

Kolkata got off to a poor start against Delhi, with a top order collapse leaving them at 84/6 at one stage. Rajat Bhatia, Sumit Narwal and Brett Lee managed to push the score to 136/7 but it was never really going to be enough. In-form Delhi batsman David Warner's 66 off 42 balls guided the formerly in-crisis side to a third win in the last four games; Delhi started the season abysmally, losing their first six games.

Rajasthan, for their part, enjoyed a morale-boosting win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Royals, playing at home, successfully chased 171 to win, with Sanju Samson's 63 off 41 balls leading the way. The Australian duo of Shane Watson and Brad Hodge continued the young Indian's work after he was dismissed at 116/3.

The win means the Royals are third, with six wins from nine games and well on course to finish in the top four and qualify for the knock-out stages. And the better news is the 2008 champions have two games in hand over Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings, both of whom are above them in the league.
