Overview

Hyderabad recorded a comfortable seven wicket win over Mumbai Indians in their last game, with Indian seamer Ishant Sharma putting in an excellent shift with the ball. The result means the IPL debutants have now won six of 10 games so far this season and they remain firmly in the hunt for a top four finish and qualification to the knock-out stages.

The team from the southern part of the country are locked in a tie with Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai but trail those sides on Net Run Rate, which will be the deciding factor should three finish the league season level on points.

Hyderabad have been boosted by the return of senior batsman Shikhar Dawan from injury. They have lacked a batting icon up the order in his absence and the continued poor form of captain and Sri Lanka veteran Kumara Sangakkara.

Dawan scored an unbeaten 73 off 55 balls to chase down Mumbai's 129 in the last game and will be the key man once again when the Delhi bowlers take to the field later today. However, pressure can be brought to bear on Hyderabad's batting order and the side from the Indian capital will know that.

Today's hosts have one of the weaker batting line-ups in the IPL this season and as they displayed against Mumbai, rely on their bowlers to set up wins. South African pacer Dale Steyn and the Indian duo of Sharma and Amit Mishra are critical in this regard; if the opposition can ensure they do not lose wickets to them while maintaining a decent run rate, they should be able to pick up big hits off the rest of the attack.

Meanwhile, the Daredevils are mounting a last-minute charge up the table, after losing their first six games. The continued brilliance of David Warner with the bat and the mental boost the presence of senior Indian batsman Virender Sehwag can provide have taken the side three wins in the last four games. With a six point gap still to make up to the top four, it will not be easy... but if they can win games against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, their next three fixtures, they have a good chance.

Delhi posted a similar seven wicket win, to Hyderabad, in their last game, beating defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. An all-round team performance from the bowlers, led by seamers Irfan Pathan and Morne Morkel - 2/38 off their eight overs - restricted Gautam Gambhir's side to 136. And Warner's unbeaten 66 off 42 balls, the Australian's second consecutive half-century, led the Delhi to the win.
