Overview

The Knight Riders registered their second victory in three matches after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by two runs in their previous fixture on Thursday. They scored 150 runs in 20 overs losing seven wickets in the process.

Captain Gautam Gambhir has not scored a single run in this year's IPL. But Jaqcues Kallis and a Man of the Match Performance from Chris Lynn helped Trevor Bayliss' side win the clash. Both players contributed significant runs to the tally with the veteran South African scoring 43 runs while the 24-year-old Australian scored 45 runs.

On the bowling front, KKR were not really up to the mark as only Sunil Narine maintained an economy rate of below six runs per over. RCB seemed to be heading for their third victory on the trot and needed nine runs from the last over.

However, Lynn pulled off a stunning catch just ahead of the boundary ropes to deny AB de Villers a six and ensure his team snatched two points from the jaws of defeat. The Kolkata based outfit are currently fourth in the points table with four points.

Meanwhile, KXIP maintained their 100% record in this year's IPL after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) last Tuesday. Sanjay Bangar's side posted a target of 194 runs for their opponents to chase.

Glenn Maxwell scored his third consecutive Man of the Match performance by scoring 95 runs, falling short of a century by five runs yet again.

The bowlers of the Mohali based outfit maintained their strong performance and sent SRH packing for just 121 runs.

Lakshmipathy Balaji was the star bowler for the Kings XI, grabbing four wickets while conceding just 13 runs. Mitchell Johnson and Akshar Patel grabbed two wickets each and Sandeep Sharma and Rishi Dhawan got one wicket each to their names.

KXIP boast a superior Net Run Rate of +1.679 and are on top of the table with six points.

The battle between Narine and Maxwell will be the most interesting to watch as the West Indian spinner will try and prevent the Australian from making a massive contribution to the tally.
