IPL 2016 Auction: Michael Hussey, Martin Guptill, Shaun Tait and Mahela Jayawardene in final list of unsold players

The 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction concluded in Bangalore on 7 February and the franchises have done their team selection for this year's edition of the IPL. There were some surprises as players like Pawan Negi and Chris Morris went for top dollar, while a few fans of the sport were left puzzled when other big names went unsold.

Michael Hussey led Sydney Thunder to their first Big Bash League success in January, along with star batsman Usman Khawaja. The duo went under the hammer but no franchises were interested in picking either of the two.

New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill was under the marquee players' category. The Kiwis opener went under the hammer twice but there were no takers for him. Other players who went unsold were George Bailey, Shaun Tait, Tillakaratne Dilshan and his compatriot Mahela Jayawardene, along with South Africa's star batsman Hashim Amla.
