An Iraqi spokesman says 34 people were killed after two bombs exploded in a market in Kut, a city southeast of Baghdad, and 60 people were injured, the AP reported.

Police spokesman Lt. Col. Dhurgam Mohammed Hassan says the first bomb, went off on Monday morning and was placed in a freezer that contained drinks cold, the news agency reported.

A second bomb exploded moments later in a car parked nearby.

Kut is 100 miles (160 kilometers) southeast of Baghdad.
