The Republic of Ireland have been eliminated from Euro 2016, after France came from behind to win 2-1 in their last-16 clash in Lyon.

After scoring a spectacular last minute goal against Italy, Ireland had qualified group E as one of the best third place teams under the new Uefa rules, as the tournament was opened up to 24 teams.

Martin O'Neill's side drew their first fixture against Sweden 1-1, before a suffering heavy 3-0 defeat against Belgium. After those two games, they were left at the bottom of group E with only one point, but there win over Italy saw them through.

Although now out of the competition, throughout their time in France, many of the ROI fans enjoyed themselves by singing at any possible moment. They serenaded a French girl in Bordeaux, sang a lullaby to a baby on the train and taunted English fans at an Irish pub.
