Samsung on Sunday (2 July) announced that the Galaxy Note Fan Edition (Galaxy Note FE), the refurbished version of Note 7 discontinued last year, will be released on 7 July.

The company plans to sell 400,000 units of Galaxy Note FE in its home land and then roll out the handset to overseas markets later this year. The smartphone is priced at 699,600 won ($608, £470)

The software of the device has been upgraded. Besides, the design and innovative features of the Note 7 have been retained.

The Galaxy FE sports an asymmetrical design, with the Fan Edition logo on the back. Like the other models of Note series, the Note FE also supports S Pen with a 0.7mm tip. Other key elements are "Always On Display" that allows you to check the time, date, missed calls and message alerts.

The device is expected to feature a screen that is larger than that of the Galaxy S8+ and pack two rear cameras.

The handset is waterproof and dustproof. The most important thing – the phone has a 3,2000mAh battery inside it - and Samsung claims it has been "enhanced with multiple safety designs". Also, the Note FE incorporates Samsung's voice assistant Bixby that debuted on the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Samsung is planning to hold a launch event in late August in New York City to unveil the next-gen Note.
