Overview

Jamaica Tallawahs led by Twenty20 superstar Chris Gayle have had a brilliant CPL 2016 so far, registering six wins in eight games played while losing only one, with one game being washed out.

The Tallawahs outfit who have 13 points have secured a spot in the play-off stage and will finish in the top two even if they lose their tie on 30 July. That Jamaica played their last game on 20 July, has given them enough time to rest but it also shows the imbalance in the scheduling of the fixtures of the tournament.

Their top players Kumar Sangakkara, Shakib Al Hasan and Andre Russell have played their part at crucial moments in games, but the form of Chris Gayle would be a worry. Gayle who started the tournament in blazing fashion, scoring a century, his 18th in T20 Internationals, has not continued in the same vein, and will need to rediscover his mojo if Jamaica are to make a claim for the title.

Tallawahs will be without their leading wicket-taker Dale Steyn, who has flown back to South Africa which means that Russell will need to take the additional responsibility and lead the bowling attack.

Their opponents, St Lucia Zouks come into this game knowing that a win will help them move closer to securing a play-off spot. That they have two games is a plus, but they will want to seal qualification here itself.

The positive for the Zouks outfit is that their key players Shane Watson, Mike Hussey, Johnson Charles and skipper Darren Sammy have found form at the right time and will be confident of winning on 30 July.

The Zouks are expected to field the same eleven that played in their last game against Trinbago Knight Riders on 26 July.
