Overview

Jamaica Tallawahs excellent run in the 2016 edition of the Caribbean Premier League continued on 16 July, when they thrashed St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 108 runs, the biggest win in terms of runs in this year's tournament.

The win moved them to nine points from six games, just one point behind league leaders Guyana Amazon Warriors. What should be taken into account is that the Tallawahs have played one game lesser than the Warriors, a win here would ensure that they move to the top of the table.

Their last game against St Kitts saw Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara finally come to the party. The southpaw scored a fluent 65 runs off 47-balls to take home the Player of the match award.

The Tallawahs bowlers too fired as a unit, hitting the right lines and length to bowl their opponents out for a meager 75 runs. Their only problem being the inconsistency that seems to creep into their bowling from time-to-time.

With no injury worries at the moment, expect Tallawahs to field the same eleven that played on Saturday.

Another team who is on the rise are the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders, who after a poor start to the tournament are finally putting together a string of wins. They are currently in fourth place on the league table with six points from six games and come into this clash after beating a strong Barbados Tridents side by seven wickets on 16 July.

Their batsman, in particular Hashim Amla and Colin Munro have been in brilliant form, topping the scoring charts with 282 and 258 runs, respectively. Skipper Dwayne Bravo is leading Trinbago's charge in bowling, picking up 10 wickets so far.

No changes in the squad are expected for this game. A win will ensure that the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team move to the third spot in the points table.
