James May is still uncertain of his future with Top Gear. The presenter's contract, along with co-presenter Richard Hammond, runs out on 31 March.

Hounded by reporters outside his home, May said: "It's very complicated. I've got to sell my car - all sorts of things. I honestly, seriously don't know what's going to happen."

When asked whether he knew about the purported resignation of Top Gear producer Andy Wilman, May seemed as surprised as many others.

But when questioned about the end of Top Gear, he was more certain: "I doubt it's the end of Top Gear."

When asked what he was going to do with all his free time, May said: "I'm gonna cook a shepherd's pie and make a film for YouTube."
