Liverpool have joined the race to sign Sevilla's talismanic winger Jesus Navas, reports from Spain have suggested.

Manchester City have been credited with growing interest in the wide man in recent days, with incoming manager Manuel Pellegrini and the club's sporting director Txiki Begiristain reportedly big admirers of the Spain international.

But while Marca suggest the club are yet make a formal bid for Navas, the Reds have reportedly made contact with Sevilla to make their interest in the 27-year-old known, if the club decide to cash in one of their most prized assets.

After a disappointing season where the Andalusian club can finish in eighth place at best once La Liga concludes this Saturday, the club face a real challenge in ddressing their growing financial concerns that threaten to cause long term problems for the club.

According to club president Jose Maria del Nido, Sevilla need to raise €20 million to balance their books, but are faced with a challenge in striking a balance between offloading those who will generate the most profit without disassembling their entire squad.

Alvardo Negredo, who has been continuously linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur is one such name who will be considered, with Federico Fazio, Gary Medel and Manu del Moral all to be placed on the market.

Marca suggest the club had previously not entertained the idea of listening to offers for their three most prized assets, reported Arsenal and Real Madrid target Geoffrey Kondogbia, Ivan Rakitic and Navas.

But given their urgent need to generate funds and growing interest in perhaps their most valuable asset in the marauding winger, the club are reportedly warming to the idea of listening to offers for the Spain international.

Navas, who has spent his entire career at Sevilla, previously had reservations about leaving the club due to an anxiety disorder he suffered from when playing away from his beloved club. But by all accounts the winger has resolved his issues, as evident by his impressive participation in Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine last summer.

While Manchester City are more than likely to hold the financial advantage in the race for Navas, the potential sale of Luis Suarez at Anfield could see Brendan Rodgers blessed with the funds needed to bring in a marquee signing, something the Sevilla winger could be for the club.
