The comedian and former game show host Jim Davidson has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree, the police investigation into the Jimmy Savile abuse claims.

The 59 year old, famous for presenting TV shows Big Break and The Generation Game in the 1990s, was arrested at Heathrow Airport after arriving back in the UK to take part in the upcoming series of Celebrity Big Brother.

He falls under the 'others' category of the Yewtree investigation, meaning that the allegations against him are not directly connected with Savile. His solicitor Henri Brandman has said that Davidson "vigorously denies" the allegations made against him by two women, dating back 25 years. The Solicitor's statement added that Davidson, answered "police questions as fully as he was able after this passage of time," and that, "He has not been charged with any offence. Neither he nor I will be making any further comment".

Officials say a 53 year old man was also held in Hampshire and subsequently bailed as part of their investigations. So far officers have questioned 10 people including informer pop star Gary Glitter, comedian Freddie Starr and PR guru Max Clifford.
