England have opted to rest Joe Root for their Twenty20 and one-day international series against Australia. Moeen Ali returns to both limited overs squads having missed the ODI series against New Zealand earlier this summer, alongside Jos Buttler, Steven Finn, Ben Stokes and Mark Wood, who all helped England win the Ashes.

Root, who finished the series as his country's leading run scorer in the 3-2 win over Australia, will sit out of both campaigns, which begin on 31 August.
