Jon Jones is to officially address the media for the first time since his suspension this Friday (7 April) ahead of his return to UFC.

Former light heavyweight champion Jones is currently serving the final months of a one-year suspension handed down by USADA [United States Anti-Doping Authority], after he was pulled from his title showdown against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 due to an anti-doping policy violation last summer.

Cormier is in action against Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson this Saturday at UFC 210 with Jones having already promised he will be in Buffalo, New York this weekend.

It has now been confirmed by the promotion that Jones will in town on Friday (7 April) and will appear at UFC's media event to speak to the press.

Jones is regarded as perhaps the UFC's best pound-for-pound fighter but his career in the Octagon has been entangled in controversy. He has fought just twice since the start of 2015 and was stripped of his title after he was arrested for his involvement in a hit-and-run accident in May of that year.

Last summer, the youngest champion in the promotion's history was suspended for a USADA violation. Jones insisted he had taken a contaminated sexual-performance pill with USADA indeed confirming the pill was tainted but upheld the ban, insisting his lack of diligence had "verged on the reckless."

His ban was handed down in November last year but the sanction was backdated to July 2016, the timing of the offence. He will be able to return to action this summer – two days before UFC 2013 in Las Vegas.

This week it was announced Robbie Lawler and Donald Cerrone will fight on that card, but no main event has been announced as of yet.
