Jos Buttler will come into the England squad in place of Ben Duckett for the third Test against India in Mohali.

England captain Alastair Cook has also confirmed Stuart Broad will miss the third Test which a foot injury, with Chris Woakes called into replace the fast bowler. Zafar Ansari has also been ruled out.

Buttler, who has not played Test cricket in over a year after he was dropped for the series against Pakistan last in 2015, will bat at No 7. Moeen Ali meanwhile moves up the batting order to replace Duckett at no. 4.

Cook was quick to insist however that door has not been closed on Duckett, who averaged just six with the bat in the opening two Tests.

"He won't be the only good player that's been dropped," Cook said. "He has an England future, there is no doubt about it.

"He is a very talented guy with a lot ahead of him and it's amazing chatting to him saying 'I thought I was a pretty good player of spin' and he is a good player of spin, he's just got an issue which has been found out quite quickly, as can happen in these parts of the world and international cricket.

"So he can go away and address that and come again. It's just a blip in his career."

England trail 1-0 in the five Test series with the third Test beginning on Saturday (25 March).
