Arturo Vidal
Vidal's proposed move to United is reportedly gaining pace.

Manchester United are making progress in their attempts to prise Arturo Vidal away from Juventus, reports in Italy claim.

Following the arrivals of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera at Old Trafford, Louis van Gaal has reportedly made Chile international Vidal his number one priority as he bids to rebuild a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

The powerful midfielder has refused to be drawn on speculation regarding his future, suggesting during his country's World Cup campaign in Brazil that he is not sure whether he will still be a Juventus player next season.

But an increasing number of reports suggest United may be edging closer to striking a deal for the 27-year-old. Reports have recently suggested United have received encouraging signs from Vidal's camp and are preparing an offer to take him to Manchester.

Gazzetta dello Sport now suggest the Bianconeri are satisfied with an offer of €40m with talks over a deal between the two clubs ongoing. They also suggest Juventus now prepared for his departure.

The same report suggests that Patrice Evra, along with Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and Hellas Verona starlet Juan Iturbe, are close to sealing moves to Turin. While the United full back is unlikely to be used in a makeweight in a deal for Vidal, reports suggest the club may look to use Nani as just that in order to push a deal over the line.

Van Gaal is understood to be desperate to pair Ander Herrera and Vidal together in a new look midfield at Old Trafford next term. The Netherlands boss attempted to sign the Chilean for Bayern Munich from Bayer Leverkusen during his spell at the club between 2009 and 2011. The midfielder resisted his overtures however but would leave the Bundesliga for Juventus in 2011, where he has been integral to three Scudetto successes since.
