Kanye West is reported to have scored a role in the upcoming fashion spoof sequel Zoolander 2 after his friend and comedian Will Ferrell persuaded producers that the All Day rapper would be perfect for a role in the comedy.

The 37-year-old is expected to star in the popular film's second installment alongside Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, who were recently confirmed to be reprising their roles as Hansel and Derek Zoolander. According to The Sun, Ferrell suggested to producers that Kanye should be considered for a role and also mentioned the rapper's wife Kim Kardashian.

A source told the publication: "Kanye is friends with Will and appeared briefly in Anchorman 2 but he wanted to be in Zoolander 2 even more. It's very likely that Kim will also appear in some capacity."

Kanye has swapped the microphone for the big screen several times in the past with previous cameos including The Love Guru and Anchorman 2, which also starred Ferrell. If Kimye do manage to bag themselves appearances in the Zoolander sequel, they'll be in great company as other celebrities including, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and models, Cara Delevingne, Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn and Alessandra Ambrosius, are also rumoured to appear.

Almost 15 years since the first movie was released in 2001, the sequel was announced last week followed by a surprise appearance from Stiller and Owen in character at Valentino's Paris Fashion Week show. Paramount Pictures confirmed the exciting news with a tweet revealing the release date, February 12, 2016.

Production is believed to have already begun on the sequel with Stiller, 49, spotted filming scenes in Rome and his character is just as fashion savvy as he was more than a decade ago, with the actor wearing a pair of leather trousers. Kanye would approve.
