Kardashian Christmas card
The Kardashian clan have released their annual Christmas card.

They have been sending out an annual family Christmas card for over 20 years and since the launch of their hit show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, it has become more of an elaborate affair.

But while the Kardashian family's festive cards went down a treat with loyal fans, the reality TV stars' latest offering has received mixed reviews following its unveiling.

The highly-anticipated 2013 edition of the Kardashian Christmas card, which was shot by David LaChapelle, has swapped the traditional outfits, white backgrounds and smug grins for a much darker theme.

It is filled with biblical imagery, discarded celebrity magazines, pop culture, and at least two Illuminati symbols.

Once again Kim takes centre stage and shows off her svelte post-baby curves in a bold Yves Saint Laurent dress. Kanye West's fiancé completes her smouldering look with big backcombed hair and purple heels .

Khloé Kardashian Odom, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner also feature in the striking image.

Scott Disick, Rob Kardashian, Lamar Odom and Kanye West opted out of the card, but Bruce Jenner takes one for the team and can be seen trapped, as though in a glass box.

Although the card screams high fashion, many fans claimed that the post-apocalyptic pop culture world theme was not very festive.

"How is this Christmas related? They're so up themselves its unreal. All that from a seedy, dirty little sex tape,"one unimpressed fan said.

Another wrote: "One thing I've come to notice about the kardashians is that, they really know how to draw media attention...and it always works for them. So who and who are they gonna be sending this "weird" card to???"

A third commentator said: "What do you care what their Christmas card looks like? They're not sending it to you, it's to their family and friends and if they like it, then isn't that really their business? I don't like it, but I don't suppose they'd like mine."

The Kardashians have not commented on the backlash.
