Thierry Henry says Arsenal cannot rely on Olivier Giroud alone and has advised Arsene Wenger that the Gunners can win the Premier League and the Champions League if they sign Real Madrid star Karim Benzema.

Giroud has been the first choice striker for the Gunners, while the England international duo of Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck can play upfront. Last season the French international missed most of the first half of the season due to foot injury.

During his absence, the north London club suffered, before an impressive run in the second half of the season following a defeat to Southampton on New Year's Day helped them finish third in 2014/15 season.

The Daily Mail claims Arsenal are still interested in Benzema and Real are willing to part ways if the interested club could make at least a £45m ($69.8m) bid. Meanwhile, The Mirror claims Manchester United are also in the race to sign the La Liga star.

"Giroud alone as a striker there – you can't win the league, you need another type of striker. I think Giroud is doing really well - he went on to score 14 goals in 18 games, that's amazing," Henry told talkSPORT.

"But sometimes you need a different type of striker and I think that if they can get Benzema, suddenly they are a real title contender and also in the Champions League."

Over the last few seasons, injuries have hampered Arsenal's progress in all competitions. However, Henry believes staying injury-free next season will also help them win the title.

"I always say it's their year but there is a genuine buzz around the place right now. I think they can challenge this year for real if they stay injury-free," the Gunners legend explained.

Arsenal have already won the FA Cup twice in a row in the last two seasons. Wenger and his men will be looking for the title in the 2015/16 season and the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea this summer should only strengthen their squad.
