Real Madrid have been dealt a blow after their number one target, Brazilian striker Neymar, has reportedly turned down a move to The Bernabeu preferring to stay in Brazil for one more season. Real Madrid has flown executives to the Copa America but they have been told by the player's representatives that he wants to stay in Brazil for one more season. The Brazilian has reaffirmed his desire to play at the Club World Cup in January and will make his move to Europe next summer.

Neymar has committed himself to Santos until next summer but after that it is unclear where Neymar will move to. Real Madrid may be favourites this summer but Barcelona is also in the hunt for the player. In a year's time, Barcelona may be in a position to tempt the Brazilian to the Nou Camp.

To fend off interest from their great rivals, Real Madrid wants to sign Neymar this summer and will step up their efforts to sign the Brazilian after the Copa America concludes. Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is confident that he can tempt the player away from Brazil this summer asking his board to pull out all of the stops when drawing up a contract.

It is likely Jose Mourinho may miss out on his number one Brazilian target, reports in Italy suggest that Real Madrid may finally be about to land Inter right back Maicon. The Brazilian full back has been the subject of constant transfer speculation since Jose Mourinho's move to Madrid last season and according to Goal.com Italia Inter is ready to sell. Inter Milan have told Real Madrid that they must pay in excess of £16m to land their man. It would represent a good piece of business for the Madrid club who were quoted close to £30m last summer

On Tuesday Branca insisted "Maicon will be staying" after the defender said he "would speak about Real Madrid" following his Copa America involvement with Brazil. However, Goal.com Italia has learned Inter would have no problems in selling the defender now, rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in 2012 when his contract expires.

Reports in England suggest Arsenal could be ready to make a £27m offer for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. The Daily Mail claims that Arsene Wenger is preparing to launch a £27m bid for the player to offset the likely loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. Benzema is the man Wenger has highlighted to rebuild around with three of Arsenal's best players set to start this season at different clubs.

Arsene Wenger will launch a bid for Karim Benzema in the knowledge that Jose Mourinho wants to sell the striker this summer to raise funds for a move for Sergio Aguero. Benzema has been in and out of the Real Madrid side since his move two seasons ago and has endured problems with Jose Mourinho in the past. It is likely that if Arsenal matches the valuation, Benzema could well be on his way to England this summer.
