Kate Middleton has been discharged from the King Edward VII's Hospital, where she was being treated for acute morning sickness - and the Duchess of Cambridge looked a picture of health when she met the press.

Kate was all smiles and looked stunningly beautiful basking in the traditional glow of early pregnancy, as she left the hospital with husband Prince William.

The royal couple, photographed together for the first time since Kate's pregnancy was announced, did not give any statements while leaving the hospital but could not resist smiling to the photographers waiting outside.

A very relaxed-looking Catherine carried a bouquet of yellow roses, which seemed to reflect the bright mood of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate Middleton Pregnancy Makeover

Known for her impeccable style statements, the new mother-to-be made sure she kept herself warm in the chilly weather with a scarf wrapped around her neck. And the lilac pashmina scarf was not just for the cold... it also matched her midnight blue checked coat dress by Diane von Furstenberg.

The duchess kept her hair (not blow dried this time) loose, with half the tresses swept back and her new hairstyle - the fringes in front - complemented her ensemble.

The most striking change in Kate's fashion statement, when she left hospital, was her shoes. Kate, recently snapped playing hockey in high-heeled boots on a visit to her old preparatory school, switched to a pair of Russell & Bromley black suede knee high boots with comfortably lower heels.

William and Catherine, who are expecting their first child, are now staying at their London home, the Kensington Palace, where Kate will recuperate.
