The infamous video of Kate Upton performing the Cat Daddy dance in a bikini may have won her legions of new fans but the Sports Illustrated cover star revealed she was less than impressed with fashion photographer Terry Richardson for leaking it.

Speaking to Alexa Chung in an interview for Vogue UK, the 22-year-old model claimed she was "horrified" when the clip was posted online as she had assumed it was being filmed for fun.

"I was like: 'That was disrespectful, you could have told me!'" she said of the moment she confronted the Richardson about his betrayal.

In May 2012, a then 19-year-old Upton provoked an online frenzy when a video of her performing the dance craze made popular by hip-hop group The Rej3ctz while shaking her hips suggestively emerged online. The provocative video, captured during a magazine shoot, was considered so scandalous that it was initially banned by YouTube for violation of service before eventually being reinstated.

In the wake of the leak, Upton landed the coveted cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2013, made multiple TV appearances and even starred in 2014 romantic comedy The Other Woman.

So it comes as no surprise that the model's anger towards the photographer has since subsided and, as she says: "Now, obviously, it's fine."

But despite seemingly putting her on the map, Richardson insists he is not responsible for her success, telling Chung "Kate was born a star".

Meanwhile, Upton is preparing to star alongside Glee star Lea Michele in The Layover, a comedy directed by William H Macy. She could not contain her excitement when she shared the news on Twitter with her 1.93 million followers.
