Kevin Hart, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Kevin, Kim and Kanye join forces in the new promo for the 2012 MTV VMA’s YouTube

Comedian Kevin Hart has teamed up with Hollywood's hottest new couple, Kayne West and Kim Kardashian, to reveal that he will host this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

In a playful promo for the event, Hart attempts to cash in on the fame of West and Kardashian by suggesting they pose as a threesome for the paparazzi.

Days after writing a controversial love song entitled Perfect Bitch for his girlfriend, West takes on the role of protective partner when Hart makes his entrance in the promo, wearing a dapper black suit.

Hart tells the couple, who are sitting together on a bed, that they are hosting the VMAs together, and the press want shots of "the new 'it' couple."

"I'm talking about Kev-Ye-Kim," he says.

"Are you serious right now," West replies, with raised eyebrows.

Realising that West is not very pleased, Hart offers other alternative names for the trio including "Ye-Kev-Kim" and "Ye-Kim-Kev [or] KKK."

Hart even asks Kardashian if she has a white hoodie - a thinly veiled reference to the outfits worn by far-right organisation the Klu Klux Klan - prompting more quizzical glances from West.

Excited

Reality TV star Kardashian, 31, was quick to share her excitement about working with funnyman Hart, in an exuberant letter to fans on her website.

She posted a link to the promo video, along with the message: "So excited to share the MTV VMAs commercial Kanye and I shot with Kevin Hart!!!

"How funny!? We had such a fun time shooting the commercial together! What do you guys think? Xo."

The MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on 6 September. West has been nominated in several categories, including best solo artist and best hip-hop video.

Rihanna, Drake, Katy Perry and Frank Ocean have also received multiple nominations for the awards.
